I participated in Black Dirt Theater's 4th "24 Hour New Play Challenge" - this year, as a writer. The challenge involves encouraging people to sign up a month prior to the event how they would like to participate; Writer, Director or Actor. Everyone arrived at 7pm on Friday night and were assigned their preselected groups. After a few writing, acting and directing workshops - the writers settled in for an overnight writing session. The scripts were done by 7am on Saturday, and that's when the directors and actors came back. The writers went home for some much-deserved rest while the directors and actors rehearsed the scripts. by 5pm they were running tech calls, and by 7pm, all six shows, which didn't exist 24 hours before were presented to a packed house.
It was quite a night, and such a fun challenge.
I decided to again contribute some posters for each show - simple, quick publicity materials the folks involved could use to drum up excitement for the performance (and as always, a nice keepsake)
As a writer, I was privileged to hear all the stories throughout the night, so I had a pretty good idea what they were about.
